Lower back pain can often be the cause of pulled muscles or muscle strain caused by overexertion, or a traumatic pulling of the fibers past their point of elasticity. While some back pulls are the result of a high velocity impact (e.g., car accident), others are caused by repetitive strain.
For example, a person who maintains improper posture at a computer, or a tennis player who uses improper form may have their muscles tighten to the extent that something as simple as reaching for the telephone can cause a muscle pull. To add to the pain of a pulled muscle, the surrounding muscles react to the tear by stiffening to protect the injured muscle from further harm.
" I find the Infratonic particularly effective in relieving pain associated with TMJ. Using low intensity, patients place the transducer on the site of pain for ten minutes. Occasionally, some patients may complain of increased pain shortly after treatment, but the pain only lasts about a day—then they usually report a great reduction in discomfort. "-Emery L.
