Last month I interviewed Dr. John Harrison about the ways he uses Infratonic therapy in his practice. The really cool thing about Dr. Harrison, is that he works with both people and animals, treating both very effectively using Infratonic therapy (you’ll hear more about the animals next month).
Please share with us about what you do in your practice.
I am a practicing chiropractor for the past 40 years in the Encinitas, CA area. I’ve used the Infratonic Sound Vitality equipment for 15 years and have had really great success with my patients. I am also a VOM practitioner (Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation), and work hand-in-hand with veterinarians in hospital settings in Escondido, CA, and I also use the equipment, especially the Infratonic, on animals.
My human patients have reported incredible success, in a very timely fashion, with the equipment. We find that not only is it beneficial for balancing out the nervous system while I am doing treatment, but it also creates a calming effect to the neuromuscular connections, as well as to heart and brain wave patterns, in relaxing tissues and relaxing the mental states of patients while I treat the different areas that are out of alignment.
I’ve given the Infratonic to patients for hip pain, neck pain, emotional stress, acupuncture balancing; quite a few different issues. I find that you can muscle test information with the Infratonic and get very quick feedback mechanisms with the different sound wave patterns that are offered. We find that the Infratonic is also very easy to use. Once I relay the information to my patients, they get very familiar with the technology, so that they understand what the principle is when we do apply the unit to them, and have a better understanding of this modality from a personal experience, but also from an educated experience. It’s very important to let the patients know somewhat what is going on with this technology.
We have very quick results with some cases, especially with acute situations where you really want to get some pain reduction down. The biofield is very accepting of the sound waves and it allows for the swelling and the chemical pain syndrome to dampen down very well. We’ve seen results in as little as 30 minutes, and in some others a whole night of utilizing the equipment next to their sleeping body. It’s different with different patients in the sense that you don’t always know that a shorter period is going to be as effective as a longer period until you start working with the patient.
I also give my machine out to patients periodically for them to try it at home, and I always have an extra machine at my own house to serve my own family’s needs and other relatives, and everybody has had nothing but positive results.
What are some of the most impressive cases you have seen where somebody has had a significant improvement by using the Infratonic technology?
I have a patient who has bilateral shoulder tendonitis and bursitis and has been under medical care and physical therapy for the past 2-3 years. They didn’t have a lot of success with some of the traditional medical processes, so we utilized the Infratonic and both shoulders responded so favorably within a very short period of time that they took the equipment to their medical doctor to show them what is working for them. That was really nice to see someone that has had a chronic problem for a couple of years to get relief within a 3 week period of time and to want to let their physician know the impact.
I’ve also had patients with major hip problems that have a lot of damage to the femoral head and a lot of arthritis in the joint where you get that bone on bone type of pain. One patient just recently experienced immediate relief after using the machine overnight. When she woke up she was very pain tolerant, able to go to work and to prepare her day in a very comfortable fashion. She is still getting a hip replacement, but just the fact that she still has another tool to keep herself able to work and able to perform her normal activities as best as she can, she is very, very satisfied.
I had another patient who has had mental and emotional stresses that show up in the physical body with nervousness and other types of muscle irritation, and just by applying the Infratonic to her heart area while I do my work with her, settles her down very rapidly. She’s able to accept the physical treatment of chiropractic and massage very easily while using the Infratonic.
I’ve also used the Infratonic on patients with head injuries, like slight concussions, that have suffered headaches and different traumas to the head and it’s been found to be very soothing.
In my treatment room, I have the Infratonic on pretty much the whole time. When patients come in, I will utilize the settings, whether Acute, Balance or Deep Calm, depending on the patient needs. If I see a combination of symptoms, I will muscle test and find out what the most important setting is desired for that particular patient. The muscle testing as an indicator test is a very good way to see results very quickly with the right wavelength frequency and the right sound frequency. I really understand the principle of vibrational tuning, with tissue that is inflamed or distressed, you really see the importance of having a very solid foundation of the tissue itself with its tonal frequency, and when it’s injured, hurt, diseased or just weak, you also see what that is doing to the surrounding tissue, and to have the Infratonic available, and to put that into the patient’s field of energy and see the results, it’s almost getting to the point now where it’s common sense rather than an “aha!” moment for me. I know we have to use the Infratonic first and not get so surprised by our results because that’s what it’s supposed to do in the first place. I don’t even look at the Infratonic anymore as something that is going to surprise me, I just start using it.
Sometimes people use the Infratonic for a specific condition and they don’t necessarily see immediate results from it, and at the same time, it’s working subtly on that and it’s also affecting other things in a positive way. Do you see that in your practice where somebody comes in for a certain issue or complaint and it’s helping them with other issues as you are treating them?
Yeah, I see that a lot. Most patients are invested in their symptomology. The symptom, the signal that’s driving them to come to the doctor in the first place is a lot of times the end result of another part of the body not working well. So a symptom is only a signal that something’s wrong. And most of us have been brought up in the field of thinking that if I get rid of the symptom, I’m going to be cured, and that’s not it at all. So on our acute pains we’ll definitely see a dampening down of the pain, and we’ll also see an increase in mobility or circulation to that body part. But the underlying problem a lot of times might be due to a facet where they’re not doing well emotionally, or might be going through some other condition that’s been very chronic that they’ve kind of ignored and now something else is showing up. So this is the nice thing about taking a really good patient history, also watching range of motion, and then finding out just what the reflexes and with the muscle tests and that sort of thing, what is their primary need? And a lot of times we’ll find that it might not be calibrated for the Acute setting. It might need the Deep Calm or Balance setting. Once the patient understands that and is shown how that works, then they look for other positive aspects and they realize that healing is kind of like a layered onion, you have to take one thing away to help another thing. And this is what we see, that maybe one layer has to come off in a different fashion than they were thinking to get to the primary cause. Once it’s explained to them how all this works, they have a much better acceptance of the modality (Infratonic therapy), and they have a better understanding of intention, of how to make that a positive force in their field of energy or their body field, to just accept the feeling and also to allow Mother Nature to help heal other areas that they might not have seen get resolved right away, but they definitely will have a much calmer state of mind or much better attitude about their situation. We’re trying to get the symptom levels down, but a lot of times the symptoms are only the result of a cause from some other part of the body or another condition.
You mentioned that you leave the Infratonic running in your treatment room all the time. What were you observing that made you decide that it was beneficial to have it running all the time?
Well, when you deal with patients, you are in a funny situation because a good practitioner has to stay very neutral to cause and effect. I’ll get one patient in that has a severe chronic condition or pain, and the next person that’s coming in might be very calm and having some really good effects from what we’ve done the week or two before that. So if I were to look at my environment as an area of treatment and healing, then I want to make sure that the vibration that was left before or after a patient with certain problems came in, the Infratonic helps clean the energy of the room, the energetic feeling of the room, the healing part of the room. I feel that it’s really good to have the Deep Calm or Balance setting on, sweeping the whole room, so that when the next patient comes in, they don’t feel the effect of the last person that was there, or the condition of the last person. And I certainly don’t want to have that residue on me either. So when I treat my patients, I try to be neutral so that when I go to the next patient, I’m kind of in an open mind without feeling the problems or the pain of the person that was in before them. It’s the way I keep the room balanced. It’s kind of like cleaning the air, only it’s cleaning the whole vibrational frequency of my treatment room.
Yes, I have heard from other practitioners as well who will keep it running, even in their patient waiting room to kind of calm people before they even get to them.
Yeah, it’s hard to talk about an invisible sound wave that you can’t hear and you can’t usually feel, but the more you work with this work and the more you understand the principles of vibration, you begin to be very aware of the subtle currents of energy. How people come in with their attitude, how people come in with their stress, how people come in with their feeling of repair and success of feeling better. Everybody’s got a different thing that they’re expressing, whether it’s a health expression or whether it’s a sickness expression, or whether it’s an irritated expression. And the doctor or therapist or practitioner does well by staying neutrally calm so that they can maintain a sense of presence for that patient, rather than being affected all through the day by all these different patients where they’re fatiguing themselves out too. So I guess I want to say that I use the Infratonic as a way to keep my treatment room effective and clean, hopeful, and in a pleasant state, a safe place. Keep it good, as they say.
Out of the 15 years of using the equipment and seeing it perform, I always know that I’m going to be getting only the best quality and the fastest repair times and the fastest service if I ever needed anything, whether I accidently dropped the machine, or if it just seems to need a tune-up. But other than that, I can’t say enough about the effectiveness of it. It is very, very well tolerated, easy to use, and it is definitely an effective modality.
What I like about Infratonic therapy is that it’s portable, it has a fantastic rechargeable battery; it just seems that it’s always ready to perform for you. It’s easy to use, it’s effective, and it’s fun. You can also take it on trips. If you are buying one for home use, you can take it in your car. It’s just a really good healing modality that makes sense. I like the versatility, the ease of use, and the effectiveness; the end result is that it works.
