Antibiotics do not cure viral infections, such as colds or the flu, runny noses, most coughs or bronchitis, or sore throats (unless caused by strep). Many people mistakenly believe that antibiotics will alleviate these viral conditions or their symptoms, or protect others from catching the illness from them.
If you find it is absolutely necessary to take antibiotics, it is vital to take them exactly as prescribed, and completing the full course of the prescription even if you feel better. Not doing so may cause some of the bacteria to survive and re-infect you, or create antibiotic resistance.
It is also critically important to take good probiotics (not all probiotics are created equal) whenever you finish taking antibiotics, as the antibiotics will indiscriminantly kill ALL bacteria in your body, both good and bad.
